Parish Council
The Parish Council is both the process and structure
which enables parishioners to share more fully in the task of continuing
the Church's work in the parish neighborhood. Its primary role is to
call forth and affirm the gifts present within the community to meet the
pastoral needs of God's people and to make Christ present among us.
Through its committees, called Standing Committees, the Council extends
the mission of Jesus in this time and place.
New Council members are selected each Spring through a parish-wide
process of prayerful discernment. Council members serve for three years.
Meeting times are listed in the weekly Bulletin.

Standing Committees of Parish Council
These groups function as separate committees, accountable
to the Parish Council. The standing committees meet once a month . The
date of the monthly Meeting is listed in the weekly Bulletin.
Building and Grounds: The role of this
committee is to oversee the physical operation of the parish. The
committee is advisory to the Pastor. While most of the work to be done is
completed either by current staff or contracted out, occasionally the
committee members will do some work themselves. Examples of what the
committee members might do is paint classrooms, landscape, install light
fixtures, cork strips ,etc.
Finance: The role of this committee is to
oversee the entire financial operation of the parish. The committee is
advisory to the Pastor and Parish Council. The committee reviews the
monthly and annual financial statements, makes recommendations for
expenditures and parish investments. The committee facilitates the annual
budget process and each year presents to the Parish Council, for its
approval, a balanced budget.
Liturgy: The role of this committee is
focused on the glory of God and sanctification of all who participate in
worship. The work of the committee is fourfold; (1) to give direction to
the liturgical aspects of parish life; (2) to identify the spiritual needs
of parishioners; (3) to provide opportunities for parishioners to deepen
their faith through participation in a variety of prayer experiences and
liturgical celebrations; and (4) to oversee the liturgical ministries of
the parish. This committee is advisory to the Pastor
School: The role of this committee is to
develop and define the policies which govern the operation of the parish
school and to promote the implementation of these policies by the
Principal. The committee is responsible for communicating all policies
regarding the school to parents, students, faculty, and other school
personnel.
